Good News From Iraq 05/11/2007

Once again more stories of success that the MSM won’t bring you, simply because it doesn’t fit a particular template of it bleeds it leads:

In major news Coalition Forces killed several terrorists and destroyed three trucks with mounted anti-aircraft weapons May 8 after discovering a pack of terrorists firing on a house northeast of Karmah, it was determined that the enemy forced were practicing for a future operation when Coalition Forces interrupted their training killing 10 to 14 terrorists.
“Intelligence reports and surveillance of a known al-Qaeda in Iraq meeting location led Coalition Forces to three trucks, two of which carried mounted anti-aircraft artillery weapons. Coalition Forces followed the vehicles to an area where terrorists emerged from the vehicles and engaged two houses with heavy fire. The ground attack was assessed to be practice for possible future attacks against Coalition Forces.”
Elsewhere, Coalition Forces arrested a terrorist after a vehicle attacked Coalition Forces in Mosul, Iraq, Sunday. Coalition Forces also targeted an individual suspected of running a deadly VBIED cell in Baghdad during a raid Friday morning. The individual is also allegedly responsible for facilitating the movement and supply of foreign fighters, murders, and attacks against Coalition Forces. Four terrorists were killed and nine suspected terrorists detained during the raid.

In Anbar Providence Coalition Forces killed one terrorist and detained two suspected terrorists during early-morning raids while targeting a chemical bomb network and smuggling operations.
“Building on information from recent operations, Coalition Forces targeted a location north of Karmah that was allegedly part of a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device network that uses chlorine in its attacks. As Coalition Forces approached the building, an armed terrorist emerged and engaged ground forces with small arms fire. Coalition Forces used appropriate self-defense measures to react to the hostile threat and killed the armed terrorist.”
In Sadr City Coalition Forces killed three terrorists and detained four suspected terrorists Thursday morning during raids. The individuals targeted during the raid are suspected members of a secret cell terrorist network known for facilitating the transport of weapons and explosively formed penetrators, or EFPs, from Iran to Iraq, as well as bringing militants from Iraq to Iran for terrorist training. At one point in the operation Coalition Forces called in Close Air Support killing several terrorists.

On Wednesday enemy forces attacked an Iraqi National Police station near Salman Pak, with small arms and mortar fire. Two Apache attack helicopters responded to the call for help killing several terrorists and disrupting the attack.

Its not only combat operations that are thwarting the efforts of the terrorists for while insurgents continue attacks near and at construction sites, U.S. soldiers with Multi-National Division-Baghdad continue bringing construction supplies for several schools being built north of Baghdad.

And in a move that reflects increasing cooperation among Kirkuk Province’s diverse ethnic population and serves as yet another symbol of progress Iraqi government officials have agreed to immediately increase water flow from Northern Iraq’s Dokan Dam to assist rural farming communities in western portions of Kirkuk Province.

Iraq is slowly progressing but it is not hopeless yet despite the obvious successes occurring in Iraq the news media refuses to report the good news stories adding to the sense of hopelessness that has permeated all thoughts of Iraq.
