Web Reconnaissance for 02/03/2006

A short recon of what’s out there today that might draw your attention.

Capt B, of One Marine’s View writes, ANY GIVEN SUNDAY: “For all the free people that still protest, you’re welcome, We protect you and you are protected by the best. Your voice is strong and loud, but who will fight for you? No one standing in your crowd.”

Master Gunner at Tanker Brothers posts Shameless...: “I cannot stand those dishonorable, unpatriotic traitors over at World Can't Wait , a political activist organization that does nothing but cause trouble.Proving they are at the height of tacky, though:”

Subsunk writing at Blackfive posts Intelligence Chiefs Say NY Times Disclosures Damage National Security Work: “Subsunk here. If this doesn't piss you off, then you don't fog a mirror.
The National Intelligence Chiefs (DNI, CIA, NSA) today went on record, identifying the unauthorized disclosures of classified material through the New York Times and the Washington Post as "very severely" damaging intelligence collection programs vital to the security of the United States. These are the men paid to run the most sensitive and highly classified intelligence collection programs in the world. They know what they are talking about.”

Omar at Iraq The Model writes about The Negotiations between the political parties, Saddam’s Trial and of course the ongoing Fuel issues in Bagdad.

Cassandra of Villainous Company writes, Lurching Towards Peace: “There was talk, before the Palestinian elections, from Hamas candidates that, if elected, they would reconsider their refusal to recognize Israel's right to exist. It now appears that this was just a convenient fiction:”

Tom The Redhunter writes Iraq War Fallacies VII: “Karl Zinsmeister, editor of the American Enterprise Online, has a must-read piece about Iraq called Facts vs. Fiction: A Report from the Front (hat tip Instapundit)
Your editor has just returned from another month in Iraq—my fourth extended tour in the last two and a half years. During November and December I joined numerous American combat operations, including the largest air assault since the beginning of the war, walked miles of streets and roads, entered scores of homes, listened to hundreds of Iraqis, observed voting at a dozen different polling sites, and endured my third roadside ambush. With this latest firsthand experience, here are answers to some common queries about how the war is faring.”

NOTR at ROFASix – The Cav Man writes VBIED Suicide Bomber - Up Close & Personal: “Before you view the video I have linked here - a warning to parents! Think hard before you let your kids see this one. This link takes you to a graphic video of a suicide bomber in Baghdad, who attempted to ram an explosives-packed car into an Abrams tank and destroy it.
Before you view it - read what follows as it will help you understand what you are seeing. As you watch it, be mindful of one other thing. These soldiers could have ended this with one main gun round from the tank parked down the road. But they didn't. Instead, they called in EOD, cleared the area and attacked the explosive charge not the driver who was injured and at any point could have decided to choose life over death. Liberals may not ever grasp that what you are seeing here is incredible compassion by our warriors who do such hard things for us.”
