Web Recon for Saturday AM Reading...

Guest blogger, Melinda, here and there is NO reason that you should be awake and reading blogs on early Saturday morning. If you aren't out on the town, you should be in bed! I thought you might enjoy a round-up of blogs to kick start your Saturday morning whenever it begins!

The A-Team may have loved it when a plan came together, but sometimes it's great when they fall apart too. Fox News offers continuing coverage of the latest interruption of a terrorist plot. Kudos to the FBI and their counterparts in six other countries who derailed a terrorist cell's fall plans to do grave damage to a particular commuter system in Manhattan. It makes me all warm and fuzzy to hear our Homeland Security say the plan never had a chance because they were "all over it." More analysis at the Counterterrorism Blog.

For a boots-on-the-ground (BOG) blogger, you can't do much better than Buck Sargent. His latest post offers his special brand of tell-it-like-it-is which I have come to love so much. If it's your first trip to his blog, be sure to check out the links on the right hand side. This soldier is talented when it comes to producing quality videos. I have cried and cheered my way through his works and you will too.

The ladies at Euphoric Reality have a post I should have brought you in the last recon. I read Andi's post about it and was infuriated. Go on over and have your blood pressure raised a tick or two...if your heart rate rises high enough, you can skip the trip to the gym. Honest. It's a fair trade.

Two of my favorite folks in one place. Michael Yon has a Q and A with Patti Bader, the founder of Soldiers' Angels. All my disappointment over Rick Springfield not returning my pre-teen fan mail evaporated the day I received an e-mail from Patti Bader in my hotmail inbox. She's a hand's on participant in the volunteer operations that keep Soldiers' Angels humming. I'm a big fan and she never ceases to amaze me with her drive, her heart and her infectious spirit of giving. If you haven't visited Soldiers' Angels yet, you are simply delaying what will be a life-changing experience. Get going!

I've read Lisa's guest blogging posts and comments on a site I frequently visit (h/t Vilmar) and Lisa tapped my funny bone with her latest post. It looks like something I'd dream up!

Okay. Now, unless you're Dave and recovering from surgery, you should probably remove your duff from the couch and do something productive today. Might I suggest a brisk walk around the neighborhood, some extra sit-ups and a jumping jack or two? I'm planning on exercising vicariously through you today so don't let me down! I'll just observe from this side of the screen with my creme-filled Dunkin' Donut and large coffee...if that's okay with Joe Biden.
