Tar-Baby and Other Idioms for Idiots

On Monday, it was reported that Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney described the fall-out of the Big Dig as a political "tar baby" at a small gathering in Iowa. He was obviously using the term to describe the stickiness of the political fallout of having the center piece of Boston revitalization having recently killed someone. But, of course the party of tolerance doesn’t see it that way. In their minds he is a blatant racist and he should be removed from office.

The party of Tolerance as I’ve mentioned before is all about cornering the market on speech, speech that only they approve of. On a regular basis they slather on the badge of racist to anyone that uses a word they have determined to be politically incorrect.

My local paper runs a series of columns in its print edition entitled 100 Years Ago Today, 50 Years Ago Today and 20 Years Ago Today respectively, on a regular basis a member of the Party of Tolerance writes a letter to the editor demanding that they edit these historical news stories for our “modern sensibilities” most often they cry about the use of the term colored to identify black members in the stories. To date, I’m proud to say the editors of the paper have refused to edit these stories, for to do so would change the context of the story as it relates to its time in history. I couldn’t agree more to whitewash our history because a word offends you is to destroy your culture. You must know where you came from, both the good and bad to know who you are today.

Amazingly, the Party of Tolerance makes exceptions to the rules depending upon your political party of preference and your skin color. The Boston Herald used this same term in a 2004 editorial to describe the Big Dig of all things, and yet no where have we heard any outcry from the Party of Tolerance on “this totally inappropriate phrase in the 21st century." As I’ve said before Free Speech is the key to the Party of Tolerance, just make sure it is on our approved list or you have an exemption from the party.

If language can be so inflammatory that whole classes of people can not use certain words, why do we allow anyone to use those words? Why is it appropriate for black youths to use the term nigger on a regular basis in all aspects of life, and it is inappropriate for anyone else to use that term? Why is colored so bad when we have the National Association of Colored People demanding that no one use that word but them?

Language is a tool, for communicating, it can be derogatory, informative, libelous, descriptive, casual and formal, but it should never be restricted to particular classes of people simple because it might offend someone in another class. The First Amendment of the Constitution protects our right of Free Speech from government encroachment; it doesn’t protect us from being offended.

Free speech zones, political correctness boards and other idiotic institutions’ created by the Academic Community and the Party of Tolerance only serves to create separate and distinct classes in society. It’s not right that only those members of certain classes, liberals, have free reign when others, conservatives, are held to a different standard, what’s especially distressing is that those who hold us conservatives to a will look to the Declaration of Independence and its famous pre-amble as the root of their beliefs. That is an abuse of language and it should be stopped.
