A short recon of what’s out there that might draw your attention.
Crazy Politico writes Dammit, Be Unilateral, Unless We Say Multi-Lateral “As usual, the Democrats are having personality issues. The bipolar portion of the left is on the surface again today. For three years George Bush has been beat up for being too unilateral on Iraq; today he's getting beat up for not being unilateral with North Korea. John Kerry and others have been all over the tube and sending out press releases complaining that six party talks; involving the neighboring countries to North Korea; are a bad idea. In other words, when and where we should be unilateral is no longer the President's decision, but the opposing parties, at least as evidenced by these two examples.” (READ MORE)
Allahpundit writes Video: Bush on North Korean nuke test; Update: Equivalent to “several hundred tons of TNT” Update: Second blast detected? “The head of South Korean intelligence reports “unusual movements” this afternoon at another NK nuke site. Kim likes his provocations in bunches, as you’ll recall. Japanese planes are monitoring radiation levels on the peninsula; I did some bomb math at the end of the previous thread and it seems to me the Russian figure of 5-15 kilotons is likelier than the South Korean pop-gun estimate of 550 tons. Meanwhile, the Australian has a primer on the nuttiness of the North Korean dictator for those who still need one. Israel’s worried, but then Israel’s always worried.” (READ MORE)
Dafydd writes Vote for Dems to Beat North Korea! “The funny part is, I think the Democrats have started to believe their own bullroar. In their unintentionally hilarious hysteria, they blurt out arguments the GOP has made for years: Democratic Sen. John Kerry, the president's rival in 2004 and a potential 2008 candidate, assailed Bush's policy as a ‘shocking failure,’ and said, ‘While we've been bogged down in Iraq where there were no weapons of mass destruction, a madman has apparently tested the ultimate weapon of mass destruction.’ Hm... who was it who mocked the inclusion of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) on the list of the "Axis of Evil?" Democrats said then that President Bush included North Korea only to prevent the list from being entirely filled with Moslem.” (READ MORE)
Cassandra writes Pillars of Government Week, Part I :The Military “Last week Grim produced something of a tour de force that, unfortunately, I was too busy to get over and read. I have rectified that error now. It is so good - and so thought provoking - that I propose to spend most of this week addressing it in detail, with one addition he did not specifically contemplate: a review of the armed forces as an institution. Grim began with a statement that would surprise few people:” (READ MORE)
Andi writes The Swift Boat Veterans Continue to Shadow John Kerry “The Swift Boat Veterans for Truth played an important role in preventing Senator John Kerry from becoming President John Kerry. The claims against Kerry were devastating. Adding to the devastation was the refusal of John Kerry to offer proof that would clearly refute the Swift Boat charges that Kerry had misrepresented his record, as well as theirs. Four months ago, I wrote about a story which claimed that Kerry's supporters had devised a strategy to fight back against the Swift Vets, nevermind that the election was lost two years previously. We were told there was "new evidence" to consider.” (READ MORE)
Stop the ACLU writes Ad Against Lieberman Divides ACLU “The hard-fought Connecticut Senate race that has split Democrats in the Constitution State is also causing a rift between the American Civil Liberties Union’s national headquarters and its Connecticut chapter. Leaders of the ACLU’s Connecticut affiliate have objected to an advertisement placed by the national ACLU that ran in the Hartford Courant late last month. The advertisement focused on Senator Lieberman, a Democrat who is running as an independent after losing a primary bid to an anti-war candidate, Ned Lamont.” (READ MORE)
