A Plan or Three for Iraq

LtCol P of OPFOR and Rule 308 tipped me off to a great read by Ralph Peters.

Ralph Peters is a retired U.S. Army officer and the author of "Never Quit The Fight." He writes in the Armed Forces Journal Plan B for Iraq which lays out not only plan B, but also plans C, D, and E. It is a must read for anyone who wants to know what might happen if we just up and leave right now as the dems have been promising.

An excerpt:
We cannot afford inane squabbling that elevates short-term political advantage over our strategic interests. It's always up to the incumbent administration to take the lead in pursuing alternatives — simply because it has the power to do so. After actively preventing our military from planning for an unwanted-but-unavoidable occupation of Iraq, the Bush administration must not make the same ideology-driven mistake again. Our efforts in Iraq degenerated swiftly from a nebulous vision to a series of improvisations — none of which convinced the intended audience.

And it only gets better from there.

Mr. Peters is not providing us with set in stone blue prints for the futrue of Iraq he is merely providing us all with an opportunity to honestly discuss the options and as he so eloquently puts it, "smash the self-imposed barriers of political correctness."

Read the whole thing.
