T.F.Boggs writes A Last Few Thoughts “Since I am only a few days away from leaving Iraq I haven't had much time to access the internet let alone follow the news. When I finally made it to a computer I found out that a lot has been going on in the last few days that concerns me to an extent. In light of those events I'll add my two cents although most of what I am going to say people will probably already be able to guess.” (READ MORE)

On the Web:
Chuck DeFeo writes White House Political Director: Vote Because the Stakes are Too High “There are few watching this year?s Congressional races closer than White House Political Director Sara Taylor. Taylor, a top strategist for Bush-Cheney ?04, is a key leader in the effort to hold Congress in what has proven to be a difficult political environment. In an exclusive interview, Taylor spoke with Townhall.com to discuss the stakes of this election and what a Democrat majority could mean.” (READ MORE)

Oliver North writes Flashback “During the so-called "Vietnam Era" it was commonplace for critics of the long war in Southeast Asia to denigrate those serving in the armed forces.” (READ MORE)

Kobayashi Maru writes Middle East Shell Game: Whither the WMD? “I find it demoralizing how--despite knowing better--the administration has bowed to specious MSM reporting on Iraqi WMD. Yes, it's a story that's passed. Regardless of who 'won' that debate, we must look forward. But truth matters. It irks me that conventional wisdom and truth are so at odds in this case. One cannot build a rational forward-looking policy, much less an international consensus on what amounts to a great big lie.” (READ MORE)

Allahpundit writes Video: Iranian cleric psyched for U.S. midterm elections “It’s irrelevant, unfair, and demagogic to point this out, of course. The left shrieking that world opinion is aligned with them against Bush? That’s fair game. Us noting that not all of their allies in “world opinion” are liberal secular humanists? That’s a cheap shot which impugns their patriotism. Oh well.” (READ MORE)

ColoradoPatriot writing at Gay Patriot writes Non-Traditional (for a gay dude, that is) Views On Gay Marriage “I’m sure to face the wrath of not only lefties who lurk in the comments section of GP, but also (surely a much more respectful) disagreement from my fellow bloggers here when I say this, but I’m against gay marriage. But that comes from my libertarian roots. What I’d like to say to both sides of the marriage debate is: ‘You’re both wrong’” (READ MORE)

Captain Ed writes So I Guess The FMSO Documents Are Legit “One particular criticism that appeared with each new translation was that the documents were never proven genuine, although no one could explain the logic behind the US government hiding these documents in Iraqi Arabic among an avalanche of mundanity, only to shove it onto a shelf for years until Congress authorized their release to the Internet. Now we find another verification of their authenticity, this time from the New York Times, which reports today that the documents constitute a national-security threat:” (READ MORE)

Confederate Yankee writes NY Times Justifies 2003 Invasion of Iraq “This is a NY Times November bombshell as designed by the North Koreans. The breaking article seems to be an attempt to attack the Bush Administration for releasing potentially classified information (yes, the ironymeter is pegged), but what they actually prove is that Saddam's nuclear weapons program was indeed a significant threat.” (READ MORE)

Neptunus Lex writes Past glories “Sy Hersh: Pulitzer prize-winning journalist, tribune of the people, perpertual government gadfly. In Montreal last week, he waxes nostalgic, remembering the good old days: ‘In Vietnam, our soldiers came back and they were reviled as baby killers, in shame and humiliation,’ he said. ‘It isn’t happening now, but I will tell you – there has never been an [American] army as violent and murderous as our army has been in Iraq.’” (READ MORE)

John Hawkins writes Are The Lefty Bloggers To Blame For The Mess In The Connecticut Senate Race? “Now if Ned Lamont were to somehow miraculously pull out a win on Tuesday of next week, everyone knows that the netroots would take all the credit for it -- and they'd have at least a little justification for it. After all, there's no way Ned Lamont would have beaten Joe Lieberman in the Democratic Primaries without the liberal bloggers pushing ole Nedmentum so hard. But, since Lamont's campaign has tanked and Lieberman is going to steamroll him, the lefty bloggers have abandoned him and there's some discussion over whether they bear any responsibility for the whole debacle:” (READ MORE)

Andi of Andi’s World writes Litigating the Battlefield “About a month ago, I talked to Terry Pennington, the father of one of the Pendleton 8, a group of seven Marines and one Navy corpsman accused of various charges surrounding the death of an Iraqi man. I was not interested in the legal merits of the case, I simply wanted to discuss the emotional and financial toll that something like this takes on the families of the accused. November is Military Families Appreciation month, so it's a perfect time to publish my "column," which was written three weeks ago.” (READ MORE)

WO1 Fay USMC of Fire and Ice writes Then and Now “My career in the Marines has encompassed a number of fields; infantry mortarman, bookkeeper, helicopter avionicsman and crewchief, classified materials custodian, and now combat artist. You would probably assume that being a middle-age artist running around in the thick of a fire fight with 20 year olds tops the list of challenges I've faced.....WRONG. The toughest job, bar none, ever served up by the Marines to me has been recruiting duty.” (READ MORE)

The Belmont Club writes The Philosopher's Stone “The New York Times is complaining that information from Iraq's nonexistent nuclear weapons program that was posted on the web by the Bush administration to disprove the NYT's assertion that Iraq's program didn't exist has helped Iran advance its own existing nuclear weapons program. It's Bush's fault. It is just me, or is something wrong with this train of reasoning?” (READ MORE)
