The Online Chaplin writes Clear Target “When soldiers go on missions, chaplains are expected to pray. The prayer I pray with men and women going “over the wire” has struck a strange cord with me. I pray, “…and Lord if we must engage the enemy… we pray for clear target, a quick response, deadly aim, and that your will be done.” Let’s just say they don’t teach this one in seminary. It has been birthed by late nights with grieving soldiers, sleepless nights when I have been one of them, and the eternal hope that we have seen the last of the tragedy.” (READ MORE)

Donald Lambro writing at Townhall.com writes Good luck if the Democrats win “Two things will likely happen if the Democrats regain control of Congress Tuesday: Federal social welfare spending will go up and the core of the Republican tax cuts will be repealed.” (READ MORE)

Star Parker writing at Townhall.com writes Republican ideals, Black illusions “Recent polls done by AP/Ipsos Public Affairs/AOL do not paint a pretty picture regarding the current disposition of black voters toward the state of the country and toward the Republican Party.” (READ MORE)

Crazy Politico writes The Soldiers Side of It “Buried on page A13 of the Washington Post print edition and in the "other headlines" section of the online edition is a great story. ‘Soldiers in Iraq Say Pullout Would Have Devastating Results’ is a an excellent article by Josh White. Sometimes it's said that the best person to ask in the military isn't General SoandSo Admiral What'shisface. Instead, talk to the guys and gals actually doing the dirty work. White seems to have done that and gotten a ton of comments like this one, from a self described ‘more liberal than conservative’ soldier.” (READ MORE)

Victor Davis Hanson writes Before Iraq-The assumptions of a forgetful chattering class are badly off the mark. “What is written about Iraq now is exclusively acrimonious. The narrative is the suicide bomber and IED, never how many terrorists we have killed, how many Iraqis have been given a chance for something different than the old nightmare, or how a consensual government has withstood enemies on nearly every front.” (READ MORE)

Allahpundit writes GOP within four on Pew’s generic ballot, Pelosi preemptively alleges vote-rigging; Update: Gallup sees Dem lead shrink by six “ This, combined with that WaPo poll released this morning, makes it a two-alarm fire with Gallup still to come later tonight. If we’re close there too, the Times is going to put a special flag-draped coffin photo series insert in tomorrow’s edition.” (READ MORE)

Hugh Hewitt writes What Did John Kerry Do? Part 7 “I wrote a summary column about Kerry's slander on the military here, and I discussed the column, and Kerry's non-apology on Thursday's program. I am certain that Mark Steyn did yesterday as he filled in for me. (The audio is here. My e-mails tell me that MS did the predictable superb job.) The disgust with Kerry and his enablers in the Democrats has not subsided, but you would not know that from MSM. But Christopher Hitchens got a sense of it. From today's Wall Street Journal:” (READ MORE)

Blackfive writes Casting a Vote to Punish the President Will Punish Iraqis Instead “While I've always voted Republican nationally, you may be surprised (maybe not) to know that I vote for a lot of Democrats locally. In some cases, there just are no other choices on the ballot - literally, no other choices. In others, its a wasted vote because only ten people vote Republican for the county board. And in others, its just because the person is better qualified.” (READ MORE)

Confederate Yankee writes On Day of Saddam's Sentencing, Liberals Attack Republicans
“You would think that on the day a brutal murderous dictator like Saddam Hussein was sentenced to death for crimes against humanity, that everyone but Baathist dead-enders would draw at least some satisfaction from the fact that at long last, the Butcher of Baghdad would pay for his decades of brutality, depravity, and bloodlust. You don't know liberals very well, do you?” (READ MORE)

Michelle Malkin writes The Dems' preemptive delegitimization plan “Michael Graham nails the Democrats' strategy of undermining the election results before they're tallied: ‘Either we win, or you cheated!’ Nancy Pelosi's doing it, too.” (READ MORE)

You almost have to see it to believe it.” (READ MORE)

Brat writing at Tanker Brothers writes Politics is Personal “Over the last few days we have all witnessed the furor over a certain politician's outrageous disrespect for the brave men and women who sign on to serve their country. I have decided NOT to even mention that name again. Right now, I want to share with you the words, deeds and actions of a group of Gold Star families. To mention that name in the same post, to me smacks of dishonouring the sacrifice of our fallen heroes and their families. I won't deliberately do that.” (READ MORE)

Cassandra writes When Hyperpartisanship Trumps Humanity “It is perhaps appropriate that in the days leading up to November 11th, Veterans Day, a controversy has arisen over the use of flag-draped coffins in campaign advertisements. America has a bittersweet and in many ways dysfunctional relationship with those who manage to return from distant battles in exotic places. If the war was popular and they are lucky enough to return whole, we celebrate their homecoming with parades and brass bands.” (READ MORE)

The lawsuit, filed in San Diego federal court, says the ordinance violates federal and state laws and puts landlords in an “impossible position” of enforcing immigration laws. It asks the court to prevent the ordinance from taking effect Nov. 18 in the city of 140,000 people, north of San Diego.’” (READ MORE)

Lutheran vicar Roland Weisselberg, aged 73, set himself alight in Erfurt where Martin Luther took monastic vows in 1505. Bystanders rushed to extinguish the flames. The man later died of his injuries. In a farewell letter to his wife the vicar wrote that he was setting himself on fire to warn against the danger of the Islamization of Europe according to the Brussels Journal.” (READ MORE)
