Iraqi Police Forces Detain 6 Insurgents During Raid Near Iskandariyah

BAGHDAD – Iraqi Special Police Forces detained six suspected terrorists during operations Jan. 11 near Iskandariyah, south of Baghdad. Iraqi Forces, with Coalition advisers, were targeting a group of foreign fighters who are suspected of conducting violent criminal activities against Iraqi civilians in the Iskandariyah area.

The foreign fighters are accused of gaining control over the local civilians’ businesses, causing many Iraqi civilians to be displaced as a result. The foreign fighters were using the funds generated from the businesses as a means to fund their terrorist operations.

There was minimal damage done to the objective. No Coalition force members, Iraq civilians or Iraqi Forces were injured during operations.
