BAGHDAD – Multi-National Division – Baghdad forces arrested a suspected sniper during ongoing stability operations in the Rashid district of the Iraqi capital Dec. 10.
“Warriors” of Chosen Company, 2nd Battalion, 12th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division, attached to the 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 1st Inf. Div., were investigating shops in the Doura neighborhood of Baghdad when they noticed an individual who resembled a wanted suspect linked to anti-Coalition activities and other crimes.
When asked his name, the man gave the name of a suspected sniper the unit had been seeking for nearly a year. The suspect was arrested and taken to a Coalition Forces base for further questioning.
Also that day, a joint patrol of Iraqi Army and Iraqi Security Volunteers found five 57mm mortars and two rocket-propelled grenade boosters and turned them over to Co. B, 2nd Bn., 12th Inf. for disposal.
One less terrorist is around to harrass not only our troops but also the civilian population. Good work men!
