Happy New Year!

Well, some how the blog survived for the last week and some change and now its a new year.

What does 2008 bring for The Thunder Run? I haven't a clue but I do have some goals: First up, a much needed redesign of the site. I've been wanting a 3 column blog for a while now and well, its time to get off my duff, dust off my html books and get 'er done. Its true what they say the busiest do make the best volunteers, and my schedule is already full so while this is a big ticket item for me...it in all honesty is the one item I can also let slide.

Second, I need to become more active in the milblog arena. I'm a member of the Denizen's of Castle Argghhh! So I better start acting like it, that means more original pieces, more commentary and of course more good news from the front lines. It also means I'm going to be attempting to do more with and for my fellow vets, so first up is Arlington Cemetery on February 2, 2008 to help pick up the wreathes placed by all those volunteers before Christmas.

Getting more involved also means hopefully attending some more conferences, so first up also in February is CPAC in Washington DC. That of course is going to take some financial support I've never had before so I'm asking now. If you would like to help The Thunder Run get to CPAC, click on that donate button over there on the right. CPAC is a big deal so if there are no donations, then I have my answer you all don't think I belong there...yet.

Thirdly, I can't thank Andrea Shea King enough for propelling me into the BlogTalkRadio sphere...I want to do more and I hope she'll have me on as a more regular contributor and co-host. This also means, I want my own show so hopefully by Q3 I'll be ready and able to take the reins at Thunder Run Radio for my own time slot.

And finally, thank you all for still stopping by even when I wasn't posting. If it wasn't for freind of and contributor Kat in Ga, the blog would have gone unchanged the entire time. Thanks Kat and again, thank you all for supporting me in this endeavor.

The Web Reconnaissance is back tomorrow along with news from the front lines. I even added a few more front line bloggers so be looking out for them in the recon. Also up tomorrow, my thoughts on cartoonist: Mike Luckovich. [Ed Note: Scroll down for Mr. Stokely's views of Mr. Luckovich's latest in his letter to the Editorial Board of the Atlanta Journal Constitution.]

So Have a great and Prosperous 2008, it promises to be a wild one!

Til tomorrow....
