A short recon of what’s out there that might draw your attention.

Blackfive writes We all lost a Brother Today “I get a lot of email from friends in Iraq. While this one is difficult, it is very important for everyone to read.
It was a bad day yesterday in Ramadi. I have attempted to put my thoughts into words below and into the attachment, but have likely failed in conveying the raw emotion we are all feeling right now. Please disseminate to all and I will write again as time permits.
Brother in Arms
May 3, 2006
I lost a brother today. Marine Corps Captain Brian S. Letendre died in a well coordinated insurgent attack conducted against one of our strongpoints here in Ramadi, Iraq.”

Omar at Iraq the Model writes Adhamiya clashes: counter-terrorism operations or sectarian violence? “The situation in Adhamiya remains tense, and I've seen that first hand yesterday; I crossed the bridge from al-Iskan to Adhamiya only to be immediately turned away by a group of men at a road block. I tried to ask what was going on but the only answer I got was "GO BACK!".”

Neptunus Lex writes Facing the beast “Daniel Henninger has a column up today in the WSJ that links the movie United 93 together with the Moussaoui decision in a way that ought to have been obvious, but escaped me until I read it.
Some will say, as has already been said to me: “I know all that. I don’t need to see it.”
But perhaps you no longer know September 11 as well as you think. In this week of the Moussaoui life sentence, it is pertinent to ask whether the days and seasons we’ve traveled from the time of September 11 have returned the people of America to a routine that feels more normal than perhaps it should.”

Andi of Andi’s World writes The War Tapes Making a Big Splash “UPDATED 7:25 P.M. - SCROLL DOWN TO SEE WHAT ZACK BAZZI HAS TO SAY. I was thrilled to see that The War Tapes won Best International Documentary at the Tribeca Film Festival. A well-deserved honor. Congratulations to everyone involved. As I mentioned here, I had the pleasure of attending the World Premiere of The War Tapes and I highly recommend this film to everyone, especially those in the military community.”

The Middle Ground writes Choosing War “We as humans believe that we are rational and logical. We believe that our rational choices can control the outcome of our lives. We believe in this control because, in this world that seems so anarchic and chaotic, we could not operate or continue to exist without it. Without this control, or the illusion of control, our world, our individual lives would spin out of control. We would be nothing but drifting leaves reacting to every change of the wind instead of the winged bird choosing what breeze we will soar upon.”

Jay at Stop the ACLU writes U.S. Tipping Mexico to Minuteman Patrols “Its not enough that our government is doing next to nothing about our border problem…now we learn from the Daily Bulletin that our U.S. Border Patrol is tipping off Mexican authorities to the whereabouts of our citizens that are doing the job our government should be doing, the Minutemen.”

Crazy Politico writes Getting Lynched, And Learning “I've given Richard Cohen from the Post a tremendous amount of crap over the 10 months since I started writing this blog. Well, today (mark it on your calendar kids) I agree completely with his column "Digital Lynch Mob". My friends on the left definitely need to read it, it contains a warning that you shouldn't miss.”
