A short recon of what’s out there that might draw your attention.

GayPatriotWest at Gay Patriot writes President’s Decline in Polls Does Not Mean America Leans Left “A week or so ago, I met a man, who, not knowing I was a Republican, dropped a line in a discussion about movies to note how delighted he was that only two-thirds of Americans approved of he president’s performance. He suggested that those who disapproved of the president shared his disstaste for the man. Like many Bush-haters, he seemed convinced that the president’s low approval numbers will translate into a huge Democratic wave this fall. And a sign that, after five years of W, Americans are becoming increasingly liberal.”

Jay Tea of Wizbang writes TOPSY TURVY LAND ON TURTLE BAY “I've repeatedly said that I think the UN is worse than useless. But now it's officially gone from a bad joke to an obscene one.
It was pretty bad when it decided that Iran deserved a seat on the Commission on Disarmament. That's the same Iran that is repeatedly flirting with acquiring nuclear weapons. But this week, it went even further.”

Expose the Left has Colmes Distraught Mary Cheney Is a Republican, Bush Supporter (VIDEO) “Mary Cheney appeared on Hannity & Colmes last night to discuss her new book, “Now It’s My Turn”. The book is about her childhood and her job as a senior Bush-Cheney ‘04 campaign manager. Alan Colmes, the liberal, was infatuated with the fact that Cheney, a lesbian, is a Republican and doesn’t hate her father. He spent all of his time with Cheney interviewing her about her sexuality. Hannity pointed out that is all people seem to be concerned with and not the rest of the book. Cheney says that she wants gay rights, however ultimately supports President Bush because he is a strong leader and can be trusted with national security.”

Kobayashi Maru writes Liberals Saving Rats “Last night we hosted my wife's book group at our home. Since I had proposed the book to her in the first place and didn't want to eat alone, I joined them. Aside from our new dog, I was the only male at the table. The book and our brief conversation about it are immaterial to this post.
This post is about unguarded liberal silliness.”

Blonde Sagacity writes Mass Re-Enlistment “640 soldiers from Ft. Carson's 3rd Armored Calvary Regiment have re-enlisted. For some that means 2nd and 3rd tours in Iraq...
"Hundreds participated in a re-enlistment ceremony Friday, standing bolt straight on the shiny wood floor in a Fort Carson gym, raising their right hands and swearing they'd do anything to support and defend the United States.”

Charlie Munn of OPFOR writes No Caliphate but What We Make “…Can this idea really be pulled off? I would say no, primarily because it is not in the best interests of the governments, the entrenched elites, and the businessmen, across the Arab and Muslim world. The idea of Pan-Arabism has been tried numerous times before, and leaders have risen riding the ideological tides of it, only to be broken by the cold realities of how the rest of the world operates. Pulling together a caliphate isn’t like uniting the colonies in the American Revolution. Unlike America’s oppressor King George, the Arab/Muslim world does not have a single despot who, if his influence could simply be shrugged off by strength of arms and faith, solely stands in the way of the establishment of a utopian Islamic paradise on Earth…”
