BAGHDAD – 1st Battalion 6th Brigade Iraqi National Police and coalition forces seized several weapons caches during an early-morning operation in the al Doura neighborhood of the Iraqi capital Dec. 8.
The joint operation was conducted based on tips from residents of the neighborhood, leading the police and troops to weapons caches in homes and the al Hassanae’en Mosque.
The police entered the mosque and several homes, seizing a total of four assault rifles, one machine gun, 42 mortar rounds, plastic explosives and assorted bomb-making materials.
