AL KISIK, Iraq – Iraqi Army soldiers from the 3rd Iraqi Army Division Al Kisik Base Defense and Base Support units, in cooperation with a Coalition civil affairs team in Kisik, distributed 223 blankets Jan. 4 to families in eight villages in the vicinity of Al Kisik Base. The villages receiving assistance included Kursh 1, Kursh 2, Kursh 3, Gul Mohammed, Kharbot Saadoon, Sajaa, Harunah, and Tall Jadu.
Upon arrival in the villages, the IA received a list from the local elder of all the households in the settlement. Each home received two to three blankets to help combat the cold winter weather.
The distribution team of IA soldiers and Coalition civil affairs specialists took the opportunity to interact with the local populace and gather data on what the villages may need in the future and what projects could be started to improve the quality of life of the local citizens.
The distribution was a part of a Commanders Emergency Response Program project that involved the purchase of 2,000 blankets for distribution to Iraqi families.
