MAHMUDIYAH, Iraq — Iraqi Army, Iraqi Police and Coalition force members reacted to a double car bombing here at approximately 7:30 a.m. Jan 10.

Insurgents detonated two trucks with explosives near a gas station in the town, not far from where the city council, or Qadaa, was holding its second meeting. Two local residents were wounded by the explosions. The wounded were evacuated to a nearby hospital.

Despite the violence nearby, the meeting continued as planned, discussing security, reconciliation and essential service projects in the town, located approximately 12 miles south of Baghdad.
