Defeatists Let Down Our Guardsmen

Our newest expert on all thing Military in the state of Maryland, Elizabeth Marsh Cupino: give me a break! Let me get this straight a “journalist” who has never once written about our National Guard or military is now an expert on national defense because she read a single little snippet of news that stated that the state employed guards at MEMA who are also National Guardsmen are being deployed to Iraq and a contractor would have to be brought in to cover their posts. Perhaps if she wrote something original about the strain placed upon these families during time of war I’d be a little more sympathetic to her whining but instead she simply plagiarizes the words of DNC Chairman Dean and Governor Sebelius (D-KA) and their alarmist and false claims that the war has drawn down their ability to respond to local emergencies, a statement which had to be retracted within hours of being made because is was so blatantly false.

To prove her point Ms Cupino then goes on to list two major emergencies in which the Guard was not even called upon to assist local responders, the Baltimore, MD CSX train accident in 2001 and the recent fatal accident on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. She even mentions that Governor O’Malley (D-MD) is getting in on the act and finally getting around to noticing the Maryland National Guard now that it is the attack of the week in the Democrat’s sole purpose to ridicule President Bush and pander to the far left and vocal wing of their party.

Please Ms. Cupino, at least have the decency to come right out and say it, you and most of your newsroom peers have become nothing more than shills for the Defeatist Party, your integrity as a journalist should be in question. The mission in Iraq and Afghanistan whether you choose to believe it or not is succeeding and is a vital part of our National Security. The enemy is listening and using the same tactics and words that you are using to diminish the office of the President and undermine citizen support for the war effort, because they know they can not win militarily but only by making you afraid of paying the price. Victory is ours unless you snatch it away from us, in the mean time why don’t you go back to writing your standard column it’s what you excel at and stop shilling for the defeatists in Congress and our enemy.
