DOD Identifies Army Casualties 

The Department of Defense announced today the death of two soldiers who were supporting Operation Enduring Freedom. They died July 27, in Ghazni Province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked their vehicle with an improvised explosive device and small arms fire. They were assigned to the 10th Transportation Battalion, 7th Sustainment Brigade, Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Va.

Killed were:
Sgt. Eric T. Lawson, 30, of Stockbridge, Ga., and
Spc. Caryn E. Nouv, 29, of Newport News, Va.

Bomber Dies in Planned Bomb Attack on Afghan and NATO Troops

UPI | GHAZNI, Afghanistan July 17 (UPI) -  An Afghan boy, 12, was killed by his own bombs as he attempted to attack a convoy of Afghan and NATO troops, a Ghazni, Afghanistan, security chief said.
Provincial security chief Haji Asadullah confirmed the boy had explosives on his bicycle, which detonated while a convoy of troops passed him in the city of Ghazni Tuesday.

Combined Force Kills Multiple Insurgents

International Security Assistance Force | Joint Command News Release | KABUL, Afghanistan, Sept. 28, 2012 – An Afghan and coalition security force killed multiple armed insurgents during an operation to arrest a senior Haqqani facilitator in the Gelan district of Ghazni province today, military officials reported.

As the security force approached the Haqqani facilitator’s suspected location, armed insurgents attacked the Afghan and coalition troops with heavy machine gun fire, officials said. The coalition troops returned fire, killing several armed insurgents. No civilians were harmed in the exchange.  (READ MORE)
