Afghan and Coalition Forces Conduct Air Strike Against Taliban Insurgents

BAGRAM AIRFIELD, Afghanistan – Afghan and Coalition forces were engaged by Taliban insurgents in western Uruzgan province this afternoon while clearing an improvised explosive device.

The combined force engaged the insurgents with heavy weapons fire causing the Taliban to retreat into a cave. Coalition forces dropped one 2,000 pound bomb on the cave, sealing it off. Due to the precision of the air strike, there were no damages or injuries to civilians during the operation. Additionally, there were no reported Afghan or Coalition casualties during the engagement.

“Afghan National Army and Coalition forces are actively and aggressively extending the security reach of the Afghan Government,” said a Combined Joint Task Force -76 spokesperson.

“Through tireless efforts, we are eradicating insurgents and their leaders making for a safer Afghanistan.”
